This will blow your mind…my friend Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran turned 50 today.

Le Bon was just 22 when his band’s self-titled debut was released. The guys are still rocking, though, and in December they’ll play several U.S. cities in support of their latest album, Red Carpet Massacre.

A couple birthday-related posts have popped up on DuranDuran.com, including one that reveals a sweet present from his bandmates: “50 albums, one released in each of the years since Simon’s birth.”

The collection includes Elvis, David Bowie, Cocteau Twins, Duran Duran (Rio, of course) and Kraftwerk’s Man Machine, which was “found by Nick (Rhodes) and John (Taylor) on a shopping spree in Rimini, Italy.” You can see photos on the site.

Le Bon also posted a birthday message today that says he’s “having a great time with my friends and family.”

He adds, “No, I don’t feel old. (My knees are creaking a bit, but my eyes are fine. I am healthy and (some say) wise.”
Hey now I don’t feel so old either!
